URBAN DESIGNER

SITELAB urban studio is looking for a junior designer with 2-5 years experience to join our San Francisco office. Our ideal candidate has experience working on strategic design projects, as well as an ability to communicate clearly through visual language (diagrams, models, maps, and sketches). We are small, fast-paced office — we look for a designer that is curious, engaged, ready for a challenge, and has a sense of humor. You’ll learn a lot and have great opportunities for growth. Candidates must have a master’s degree in urban design, architecture, landscape architecture and a minimum of 2 years working in a design capacity. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Rhino, rendering, and Excel is required; experience with additional software such as SketchUp, GIS, and/or Lumion is a great plus.

Current projects range from leading the urban design and outreach for Pier 70 in San Francisco to the strategic vision plan for McLaren Park. We work closely with architects and landscape architects, including Grimshaw Architects, David Baker Architects, KPF, West 8, Field Operations, and CMG. 

INTERMEDIATE URBAN DESIGNER

SITELAB urban studio is looking for an intermediate designer with 6-8 years experience to join our San Francisco office. Our ideal candidate has a passion for urbanism and thoughtful design, as well as experience and enthusiasm for clear, compelling graphics and communications. We are a small, fast-paced office — we look for a designer that is engaged and ready for a challenge, and has a sense of humor. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working on complex urban or strategic design projects in San Francisco and/or the Bay Area, including testing building alternatives, composing public spaces, developing design guidelines, conducting community outreach, and leading design projects and teams. Work includes urban infill design, public realm design, research, writing, strategy and visualization.

Candidates must have a master’s degree in urban design, architecture, or landscape architecture, and a minimum of 6 years working as an urban designer, architect, or landscape architect with an urban focus. Experience with AutoCAD, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Rhino, and Excel is required; experience with additional software such as SketchUp, GIS, Lumion and rendering plug-ins is a great plus.
