With a background in design and policy, Joyce relies on a multidisciplinary approach to inform her work. She is a strong proponent of designing cities that celebrate diversity, affordability, resiliency, and delight. Prior to joining SITELAB, Joyce worked with a breadth of private consultancies, non-profits, and academic institutions, all of which sought to advance social and equitable outcomes in urban settings locally and across the globe.
Joyce earned her BA in architecture from the University of California, Berkeley, and her Master’s in urban planning from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design. Her Master’s thesis investigated the alignment between urban planning and humanitarian aid delivery in Jordan’s northern governorates in the midst of the Syrian crisis. She remains an active researcher on forced migration and its relationship to cities.
