SE PLANT

The Southeast Plant is San Francisco’s largest all-weather wastewater treatment facility. Under the city’s Sewer System Improvement Program, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) seeks to transform the aging wastewater plant into a state-of-the-art resource recovery facility that generates a positive and lasting impact on the Southeast neighborhood, and creates new opportunities for SFPUC to interface with the community.

SITELAB urban studio, in collaboration with AECOM and Lotus Water, developed design guidelines for the interior and exterior of the plant, as well as an integrated strategy for public art.
