What makes an art center part of everyday life?

YBCA

Working together with the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, SITELAB re-envisioned spaces to create a great urban place that supports YBCA’s mission to be a “Creative Home for Civic Action.”

Through developing a toolkit of strategies for physical transformation, the project enhances connectivity, and makes an irresistible destination that is inclusive, inspiring, and safe.

As part of the YBCA Public Realm Study, SITELAB created a framework to guide YBCA through current and future updates by defining for each priority space the intended experience, short and long term tactics, an implementation checklist, and an evaluation process. As part of the process, SITELAB facilitated a YBCA all-staff workshop to gather key design drivers and inspirations.

In collaboration with Studio PLOW, SITELAB transformed the Gallery Lobby into a new “everyday” neighborhood space that improves functionality and attracts people by using creative materials, signage, and furniture.
