Project Page BAYFRONT PARK

How can the new Bayfront Park in Mission Bay connect the neighborhood to its namesake bay?

BAYFRONT PARK

Bayfront Park, located at a nexus of waterfront open spaces along San Francisco’s eastern waterfront, is a site that is rich in cultural narratives and ecological history. SITELAB Urban Studio led the community outreach effort in developing the site programming for the 5.5-acre waterfront park, working in close collaboration with the clients and consultant team.

Community Engagement

The community engagement process of interactive meetings and workshops, brought a holistic lens as to what was working in the larger neighborhood and what was missing, experienced insight and feedback on design and programmatic concepts. SITELAB worked with Surface Design to develop an integrated design approach that prioritized social and ecological sustainability and ultimately create a park that can serve all members of its community. The new Bayfront Park was approved and is currently under construction.
